Given that MT sales are ~5% of BMW USA sales and diesels are also just a fraction, it seems MT diesel sales would not be profitable for the company. While a 320d, 323d or 330d would be great as an option here, how many would be net new sales (vs cannibalized 335d sales) is also questionable. Current: E60 535i M-sport.

3717 posts · Joined 2017. #3 · Nov 14, 2020. I believe the M57 engine used in the 330d is nearly identical to a Yanmar 6by marine engine. You can find these marine engines in the states. I don't think the mechanical would be that difficult. Not sure how the 330d fuel system works. Wiring and coding shouldn't be that tough either.
